Mostaccioli Brothers – Hidden gem on Elgin

。伊利近街的穩世美味 @Mostaccioli Brothers。

中秋佳節,相約一班女同事一起做節,突然想起這家在伊利近街的隱世小店,餐廳座位不多,而且又要走入小巷,但午飯時間總是不乏食客,提早3天預約,更預先訂下指定菜式,才有機會和一班同事一聚。

At Mid-Autumn festival, organised a small lunch with a group of female colleagues to celebrate the festival. Since we didn’t want to have tradition Chinese food, I reserved a table at this hidden restaurant on Elgin Street. Through a small corridor to the basement, the restaurant only had limited of seat but was filled with all people working closeby.

午餐餐牌有7款不同的主食選擇,餐連餐湯或沙律。我們已預先訂了餐廳著名的燒雞,有數位同事則點了與餐廳同名的意粉作主食。 侍者為我們下單後,很快便送上熱騰騰的麵包。麵包焗得很香脆,不論是配蕃茄蓉或是橄欖油,簡簡單單已十分出色。

There were 7 main courses for you to choose from and each lunch set came with soup/salad. We pre-ordered the signature roasted chicken and some of us selected the other signature Mostaccioli pasta as main. The server quickly brought us some fresh and crispy bread after taking our orders. The bread was so fresh that it tasted so good with the tomato sauce and simply with olive oil.

萬眾期待的主菜:燒雞! 燒得金黃的表面,切下去肉汁湧出來,香滑多汁。配菜有薯仔和青菜沙律,薯仔焗得非常入味,食下去有陣烘焗的煙醺香氣,非常美味。份量頗大的,食過後,腸胃完全容不下甜品。

The main course that we all looked forward to, the roasted chicken! The golden crispy skin was so beautiful. You can see how juicy it is when you cut it. On the side, the potatoes absorbed the juice and oil of the chicken. The portion was quite big that you won’t be able to have the dessert.

另外有同事點了Mostaccioli 意粉,分別有炒同焗兩個不同款式,各有滋味。炒的味道較香,濃郁的茄醬及香腸啖啖滋味,感覺也十分水潤。而焗的版本有一層厚厚的芝士覆蓋著,但蕃茄醬的份量少了,令意粉較乾身,而且芝士也較飽膩。炒的相對比較出色。

Besides the chicken, we also ordered the Mostaccioli pasta in 2 ways, one pan-fried and one baked. The pan-fried version smelled delicious with the fresh tomato sauce and sausage. The baked one was covered by cheese. It somehow was far drier than the pan-fried one and the cheese was a bit heavy.

最後一款要介紹的主食是燒三文魚意大利飯,也是以店家出名的蕃茄醬作醬汁。三文魚燒得外脆內嫩,魚油又令其更滑口。醬汁收得剛好,沒有像焗意粉的乾身,絕對不失為一個好選擇。
Last but not least, the grilled salmon risotto is a main course that I want to recommend beside the signature dishes. The salmon was cooked to perfect with crispy skin and soft meat. The fish oil enhanced the favour of the salmon. The sauce was just right and made the risotto have enough moisture.
