Les Fils A Maman – the quiet ambiance and home cooking style would make you love it

。Les Fils a Mamán – 讓寧靜的環境和有家的味道贏盡你的歡心。

自之前一個人來午餐後,便喜歡上這裡的寧靜和那home cooking 的味道,亦令這裡慢慢的變成每月一到的餐廳。午市套餐可從餐廳選上兩道或三道菜,由於餐牌天天轉,兩次都選上了三道菜(前菜、主菜和甜品),希望多試一點。

Since the first time I was here for a solo lunch, I adore the quiet ambiance and home cooking style here. It also becomes my must-visit every month. The lunch set includes choices for 2 to 3 courses (starter, main and desserts). Menu changes every day, so you would never get bored here.

前菜兩次都選上了海鮮為主,香煎帶子配芹菜頭,只是薄煎了的帶子,容易咬開,也保持了鮮甜。而炸白身魚配雜菜沙律,魚塊炸後仍保持嫩滑,又十分香甜,非常美味,配上沙律便很開胃。

For starter, the choices usually include salad or seafood and I have chosen seafood for my visits. Crusted scallops with celeriac was a refreshing starter with the light green flavour. Scallops were half-raw with golden surface and the sweetness was well kept. The other starter, deep-fried white fish with green salad, was an amazing one that I would love to return for it. The fish was still soft and juicy after deep-frying.

主菜總是最難選擇的,小牛肉鍋配薯條,是這裡的招牌菜,沒有不試的理由。外型吸引,肉汁豐富,肉炆得化開,蘑菇吸收了肉汁,便讓人食到停不了。其實麵包比薯條更配這肉汁的,但鍋雖小,卻份量很足,是很滿足的,誠意推介。

Main course (and probably dessert) is usually the difficult one to choose. Beef Bourguignon with fries is the signature dish and I had no doubt to order it when I paid my first visit. It was presented in a small pot on a wooden broad with the fries. The beef was so tender and juice was well preserved. It almost melt in my mouth. 🙂 The mushroom absorbed the juice so well that you just couldn’t yourself to finish it. Bread may probably be better than fries, since you would love to use the bread to absorb all the juice. Perhaps you would ask me if it was a bit small in portion. The answer is definitely ‘No’.

魚類可能是小妹的最愛,第二次的主菜選上了鱸魚配蘑菇意粉,魚身以麵包糠包裹了才煎,有種香脆的口感, 而且用上大量香草, 十分惹味。意粉煮得剛好, 而且橄欖油份量很準確,每條都包裹到,而不油膩。

I love fish and pasta.  When I paid my second visit with friends, the mushroom spaghetti with barramundi was right on the menu. The barramundi was pan-fried to just right with quite a lot of herbs.  Flavour was a bit strong but you can still taste the texture of it. Spaghetti was al dente and the chef just put right amount of olive oil to keep it moisture.

午市餐牌每次都有三款甜品選擇, 蘋果批配雲吞拿雪糕是這裡的名物, 蘋果批非常香,火候十足,亦十分甜。而朱古力布朗尼比較硬身,但甜度卻剛剛好,配上朱古力醬更香濃。另一款甜品雜莓凍糕,其實亦是冰了的雪糕,酸酸甜甜的,配上一點忌廉便平衡了整道甜品的味道。

For the desserts, there are always 3 choices on the menu. Apple pie with vanilla ice cream is the signature dessert. It was quite sweet for me since the apple was nearly caramelized and it was paired with the vanilla ice cream. The chocolate brownie with mascarpone was a better choice than the apple pie for all those chocolate lovers. The sweetness was perfect and the chocolate sauce was just so rich. If you want something light, red fruit semifreddo was the best choice for you. It was a frozen ice-cream with little sweetness and sourness. The cream on top gave it a good balance.

Such a nice hidden gem on Hollywood Road.
