Stone Nullah Tavern – new menu reveals more characteristics

。Stone Nullah Tavern – 新餐牌湧入新食力。

每次經過在石水渠街的Stone Nullah Tavern, 總是在想「下一次真的要來試試」,結果只是曾來飲酒,卻沒有真正的坐下來飲個晚餐。這次新餐牌推出,便遂然和同事一起試試。前菜水牛城炸蠔配藍芝士,有驚喜,藍芝士和水牛城醬加起來很香濃,但誰也搶不了對方的風頭。

“Come try it next time!” It’s what I had in mind while I walked pass Stone Nullah Tavern. However, I only came for a drink once but didn’t try to have dinner. Since the new menu has launched, I got a chance to come try it with my colleague. The appetizer Buffalo Oysters with Blue Cheese has surprised me a lot! Deep-fried oyster was so crispy while the blue cheese and buffalo sauce made good partner to each other.

Stone Nullah Tavern的牛肉漢堡有個特別的食法,上菜時會配上一杯威士忌和一杯醃菜汁,先將兩杯順序飲了,再享用漢堡,有提鮮的作用,只因味蕾被清洗了一次。漢堡內除了牛肉以外,也加入了煙肉和車打芝士,香濃美味。小妹還是喜歡脆的麵包,但這個的麵包便較軟身。

Meatloaf sliders with pickleback shots gave me a different impression about enjoying sliders. Drink the whisky and pickle juice before having the sliders. It made everything taste different, much more refreshing. The taste of the beef, bacon and cheddar cheese seemed to be much richer. Is it the magic of the pickle juice?

接下來的主菜有很多「重口味」的選擇,燒烤醬雞肉柴火烤意大利薄餅配上墨西哥小辣椒、車打芝士、炸洋蔥,真的十分惹味。 餅底厚薄剛好,又配上甜甜酸酸的醬汁,真的越食越開胃。 招牌菜Mac n’ Cheese (芝士通心粉)中心打了一個蛋黃,賣相極佳,而且有機蛋的黃色也很突出。食時打蛋黃拌勻,芝士的香味便包裹在裡面,不能錯過。

You for sure can find some main courses in strong flavour. BBQ chicken pizza with Jalapeno, cheddar, cripsy onion and cilantro is one of those. The pizza dough was just at its right thickness. The BBQ sauce was a bit sour and sweet, which enhanced the appetite.  Besides, the signature Mac n’ Cheese with organic egg yolk had a nice presentation that you can see the cheese well wrapped the macaronis. Mix the egg yolk well with the macaronis and make sure not a single piece is missed.

美式炸雞通常都是比較乾身的,這裡也不例外,但卻完全沒有乾硬的情況,火候控制得很好。主廚Vinny可說是功不可沒,在轉了新餐牌和概念後,便多駐場控制出品的質素。而炸雞亦配上本地有機蔬菜,平衡一下油炸的熱。另外,黑松露燉有機蘑菇,鮮製闊條麵帶著蛋香,蘑菇吸收了醬汁,非常不錯。

American-style fried chicken usually is made crispy but dry. However, the Southern fried chicken at Stone Nullah Tavern was crispy but with moisture inside. It may be related to Chef Vinny who has been in store quite often to maintain good quality of food since changing new menu and concepts. The fried chicken was served with organic vegetables on the side to keep it balance. Besides, Truffle Organic Mushroom Stroganoff was a pleasant dish after having several meat items. The fettuccine carried light egg flavour when the mushroom had the chance to shine and smell the best.

而另一重點主菜,楓樹糖漿醬燒豬肋骨值得推薦。上菜時陣陣肉香撲鼻,切開時,那離骨的鬆化和濃郁的味道叫人讚口不絕。雖然楓樹糖漿烤真的比較甜,但當配上伴碟的辣醃青瓜,感覺平衡多了。

Okay, this is something that you can’t miss. Maple BBQ glazed ribs with Gorgonzola slaw and dill pickle  is definitely recommended. It smelled so nice when it’s served. Once you cut it, the meat came off right away from the bones. Though the maple glaze is quite sweet, it matched well with the dill pickle, which can refresh your appetite.

Banana split香蕉船小時候也食過不少,但Stone Nullah Tavern的這個重量版配上焦糖和大量忌廉,便很有差距,這個絕對是重量版。味道如何?當然好吃,又甜又食,食了1/3仍覺得不夠。

Last but not least, how could you miss the childhood favorite Banana Split? I had it quite often when I was a kid. But  this one made a huge difference with those I had. Massive cream and caramel syrup. You need to dig deep to find the banana. It is definitely a giant version than those I had.  🙂 How does it taste? Awesome. I couldn’t have enough with the cream and caramel syrup.
